Govt to promote Micro Food Processing Enterprises in remote areas

Udhampur: A one-day awareness camp on Government of India flagship program Prime Minister’s Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises PMFME was organized on Wednesday at Panchayat Ghar Marothi in block Latti of Udhampur district.

Pinky Devi DDC Member Latti Marothi was the chief guest. A number of local farmers, SHG members, prominent citizens and PRI representatives attended the awareness camp.

Apart from the DDC Member, Area Marketing Officer Udhampur (District Nodal Officer for PMFME), Business Development Manager APEDA, Branch Manager J&K Bank Sudh Mahadev, District Agriculture Office, SMS Horticulture, BPM JKSRLM Chenani addressed the gathering and made people aware about different aspects of the scheme.

The Area Marketing Officer informed earlier PMFME scheme was restricted to one product for one district. But, now the scheme is available to people as wish to set up unit for processing of any agricultural product. The scheme has a number of benefits like 35% subsidy, complete hand holding for registration under Udhyam, FSSAI, GST alongwith full guidance about Packaging, Labelling, Branding and Marketing.

Business Development Manager APEDA informed people to take benefit of the PMFME scheme which not only shall open up a number of opportunities for them to export their products to different parts of the country outside J&K but also to different countries outside India.

Member DDC appreciated efforts of the government in reaching people, living in far flung areas, at their doorsteps in making them aware about different employment generation schemes of government of India.

Pinky Devi exhorted people to take benefit of PMFME scheme and process local agricultural products to increase their shelf life as well as add considerable value to these products.
