In a first, Shopian, Pulwama villages get road connectivity

Pulwama: Residents of Shopian’s Chanchmarg, Pushwari and its adjacent areas in Shadab Karewa villages and Kandi Rajpora village of Pulwama are happy seeing their villages connected with roads for the first time.

Locals told a local news gathering agency, they had no proper road connectivity for decades.

The residents of Chanchmarg said that PMGSY constructed the road in their village 12 years ago but it was left in dilapidated condition. They said that they had to carry goods on their back or horses and were suffering especially in the times of emergency.

Students, children, elderly and patients used to face hardships on a daily basis, Shareef Khan, a local resident said.

Similarly, locals in Kandi belt of Pulwama said that they were without proper road connectivity for the last seven decades.

They said that many marriage proposals were rejected due to absence of proper road connectivity to the village, he said.

Locals from both areas claimed that they had brought the issue into the notice of higher ups many times but nothing was done.

They thanked Deputy Commissioner Shopian and Pulwama besides DDC vice Chairman and officials of PMGSY for fulfilling their long pending demands. (KNO)
