Northern Army commander bats for empowerment of ex-servicemen

Jammu: Northern Army Commander Command Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi on Wednesday stressed on empowerment of ex-servicemen men by preparing them for a second career, after retirement, so that they are able to contribute more in society and also bats for positive parenting to achieve wellness for future generations.

As per a local news gathering agency, while delivering the inaugural address at three-day long Command Augmented Wellness Support Seminar 2022 here at Nagrota, General Officer Commanding -in-Chief (GOC-in-C) Lt Gen Dwivedi said spoke on the need for empowering the ex servicemen by preparing them for a second career.

Officials informed that Lt Gen Dwivedi emphasized that soldiers, who completes their service in army at very young age must well aware of all second career options, so that they contribute more in the society.

He empathized that after the trainings and serving in army, an individual become more professional and disciplined and got absorbed in civil departments or belt forces (police or para military), they he would be proved a assert for society.

The General officer maintained that special educative camps would be organized inn partnership with private employers of Multi National Companies to aware the soldiers’ about second career options.

The general officer also stated that physical, mental and spiritual health are three major indicators to ensure wellness of our present and future generations.

“We need to focus on the three pillars of physical, mental and spiritual health to ensure koon assured wellness of our present and future generations, the General Officer said, adding , “The general officer highlighted the negative influence of the Social Media on children and stressed on positive parenting to keep children in a positive frame of mind.”

“The negative influence of social media on children adversely affecting their overall all wellness, to overcome there is critical need for ensuring positive parenting,” the Lt Gen said.

Earlier, a three day Command Augmented Wellness Support Seminar 2022 is being organized by the Army Wives Welfare Assosiation in Nagrota.

The purpose of the seminar is to discuss various aspects which contribute to the Wellness of the soldiers including their families.

It is being organized to enhance awareness about the ability of the Human mind to overcome challenges posed by the Army Way of Life to ensure high Happiness Quotient and Wellness. Inauguration of the Seminar was marked by lighting of the Traditional Lamp by Sunita Dwivedi, Regional President Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), Northern Command and Barinderjit Singh, Zonal President AWWA White Knight Corps.

On the First day of the seminar the factors causing stress on an individual who include occupational and socio economic factors were discussed. The ways to deal with these stressors was deliberated upon so as to ensure a stress free environment. Panellist for this discussion included scientists from DRDO Dr Narender Pal Singh, Dr Sandhya Verma and Brigadier AK Pandey. Major General DP Vishwasrao moderated the discussion.

This was followed by a session on how Wellness acts as a Force Multiplier for the Armed Forces, considering the fact that the man behind the machine is paramount in the armed forces and as “A chain is only as strong as its weakest link”.

The audience was made aware of many ancient Indian scripts have already dealt with wellbeing of individuals with Bhagvad Gita being concerned as an encyclopaedia which lays down the foundation by highlighting various ways to maintain mental health and wellness. Furthermore, the launch of Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) by Government of India to promote country’s ancient and traditional wellness methods was discussed. (KNO)
