“The NCC started its activities in Kashmir in 1965, but the naval centre at Manasbal was closed in 1989 due to the security situation. After the improvement in the situation over the years the centre has been revived and we are ready to start training and reactivate this area,” Brig Kalsi told reporters at Manasbal.

He said it was after a gap of 33 years, that NCC training activities of the naval wing were restarting at Manasbal lake.

Brigadier Kalsi said that 100 NCC cadets including girls from various colleges of Jammu and Kashmir are participating in the camp.

He said the NCC activities after the closure of Manasbal were carried out at Mansar lake in Jammu and it had created a demotivating factor among the cadets as they had to move from Kashmir to Jammu which was an arduous journey.

“Now, with Manasbal lake available for training, we are sure that cadets of Kashmir will immensely benefit from this beautiful location,” the Group Commander NCC said.
