KVK Samba organizes awareness programme on LSD

Samba:  Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samba organized an awareness programme on Lumpy Skin Disease on Wednesday at Panchayat Ghar, Nonath in association with Department of Animal Husbandry Samba under the directions of Professor. J.P. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and the aegis of Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Jammu.

More than 110 farmers from different villages actively participated in the programme. The programme was graced by Vijay Talgotra, Chairman BDC Block Ghagwal and Sh. Arpan Pangotra, Sarpanch Nonath Panchayat.

Initially, the programme was started by Dr. Sanjay Khajuria, Chief Scientist & Head KVK Samba. He welcomed the dignitaries, experts and the farmers and highlighted the need of awareness programme for the Lumpy Skin disease for the welfare of farmers. He emphasized upon different scientific initiatives to mitigate the suffering of the dairy animals.

A team of experts led by Dr. Sanjay Khajuria, Chief Scientist & Head KVK Samba along with Dr. Vijay Kumar Sharma, Scientist (Animal Sciences), KVK Samba, Dr. Faheem and Dr. Daurav from Animal Husbandry Department, Samba answered the queries of the farmers and apprised the dairy farmers about the different initiatives of the government to control this disease.

Dr. Vijay Kumar Sharma discussed about the various aspects of scientific dairy farming to prevent occurrence and spread of the disease among the healthy animals, he emphasized utilization of vaccination to control and mitigate the spread of the disease.

Chairman BDC Ghagwal and Sarpanch Nonath Panchayat highly thanked the KVK as well as Department of Animal Husbandry for successfully organizing the joint venture for the welfare of the farming community.
