Jammu: Hours after India retaliated to the unprovoked firing by Pakistan, both the countries held Flag meeting on Tuesday afternoon along international border in Jammu.
Jammu Frontier BSF spokesman said that a coy commander level flag meeting was held between BSF and Pak Rangers this afternoon at 0145 PM on border.
He said that the issue of unprovoked firing was discussed and both sides agreed to exercise maximum restraint on the border.
“Both sides agreed to respect the existing norms in future. Meeting ended in cordial atmosphere,” he said.
Earlier in the morning, almost nearly after more than one year of ceasefire agreement, Pakistan Rangers fired unprovoked at patrol party of the Border Security Force thus inviting retaliation along international border in Arnia sector.
“Befitting reply was given by the BSF Jammu to Pak Ranger’s unprovoked firing in Arnia sector on Tuesday,” BSF spokesman said.
He said, “this morning the alert BSF Jammu troops gave a befitting reply to the unprovoked firing by Pak rangers on BSF Patroling party in Arnia Sector.”
However, no loss or injury to BSF troops was reported.
Notably, both India and Pakistan sides agreed for strict observance of all agreements, understandings and cease firing along the Line of Control and all other sectors with effect from midnight February 24-25, 2021.
This was the first time since the 2003 ceasefire agreement that both countries agreed to adhere to the ceasefire. (UNI)
