Militancy Funding Case: SIA-K files chargesheet against Sgr resident

Srinagar: The State Investigation Agency (SIA), Kashmir on Friday presented chargesheet against a Srinagar resident in a militancy funding case.

The chargesheet was produced against Hammad Farooq of Kagazgari Mohalla, Nowshera in the Court of Special Judge Designated under NIA Act (TADA/POTA), Srinagar for judicial determination.

As per SIA, a case under relevant sections of law was lodged at Police Station CIK (SIA) Kashmir last year following some credible inputs about Hawala money being pumped in from Gulf countries.

The SIA investigations found that the accused received money from Saudi Arabia and Oman.

“The investigation conducted has revealed that accused had developed links with militants through social media and in pursuance to a criminal conspiracy hatched with the militants, he received funds through Hawala using Bank channels maintained by him at ICICI Bank, Branch Macleodganj, Himachal Pradesh from Saudia Arabia and Oman. It also surfaced that after receiving funds through Hawala, he distributed the same amongst active militants and families/kiths and kins of the killed militant,” the SIA statement said.

“The militants from across the border by using the Cyber space are motivating youth of Kashmir to receive and raise funds through their accounts to support terrorists and other subversive activities,” it added. (UNI)
