Police solve hit and run case, 4 including driver held in Budgam

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday claimed to have solved a hit and run case by arresting four persons including the main accused in Budgam district.

Police said on July 15, 2022 Police Station Khansahib received information that a motorcycle driven by one Mohammad Ismail Lone with two pillion riders identified as Mohammad Yousuf Lone and Mushtaq Ahmed Lone, all residents of Sitharan Khag in central Kashmir’s Budgam district have been hit by an unknown vehicle near Jamia Masjid Arizal and the driver alongwith the vehicle has fled away from the spot.

The injured persons were admitted to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital Srinagar for treatment. However, Mohammad Yousuf and Mohammad Ismail succumbed to their injuries.

Accordingly, a Case under sections relevant sections of the law was registered in Police Station Khansahib and investigation taken up.

During the investigation, police put forth all the efforts to identify and arrest the driver involved in the commissioning of the crime. Various suspects were summoned and questioned and some analysis was also done which led to some clues leading to the recovered the suspected vehicle from an agriculture field in village Arizal.

One Irshad Ahmad Khan of Checkmarg Hardpanzoo was produced before Police station Khansahib by President Sumo Stand Arizal identified as Fayaz Ahmad War a resident of Arizal and brother of owner of the Vehicle (Tata Sumo) Mehraj Ahmad Khan of Check-e-Marg claiming him to be the driver of the vehicle at the time of the incident.

However, during questioning, it came to fore that one Shakeel Ahmad Khan, a resident of Checkmarg Hardpanzoo (who doesn’t possess a driving licence) was driving the vehicle at the time of incident.

The actual driver happens to be the brother of the impersonating driver produced by President Sumo Stand and brother of the owner of the involved vehicle. The trio had hatched a conspiracy to save the actual driver from legal action owing to his non-possession of driving licence.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and the two cheaters and impersonator driver were booked and arrested in the instant Hit and Run case under sections of IPC and 3/181, 190(2), 146, 196 MV Act, police said.
