Theft case solved, 2 arrested in Budgam: Police

Budgam: Police in Central Kashmir’s Budgam on Friday claimed to have solved a theft case in Khansahib by arresting the accused, and recovering eight stolen boxes of cigarettes from their possession.

A police spokesperson said that on the basis of a complaint filed by a shopkeeper at Police Post Waterihail wherein he stated that 02 unknown bike borne youth disguised as customers and fled away with 08 boxes of cigarettes with 24 cigarette packets in each box. Upon this information, a case FIR number 100/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Khansahib and an investigation was set into motion.

During the investigation, after questioning many suspicious persons and analyzing various CCTV footage, the accused were identified as Umer Hassan son of Ghulam Hassan Mir & Nadeem Yousuf Bhat son of Yousuf Bhat both residents of Kalshipora Khansahib.  Both have been arrested, bike used for the commission of crime has been seized, and stolen cigarettes boxes also recovered from their possession.

Meanwhile, Budgam Police have requested the shopkeepers and other business owners in district Budgam to install CCTV Cameras in their establishments so that such kind of incidents can be curbed.
