Srinagar: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler in Ganderbal and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.
“A police party led by Incharge Police Post Shadipora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal at a checkpoint established near Sumbal intercepted a person identified as Ashiq Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Maqbool resident of Hilalabad, Nesbal Sumbal. During checking, officers were able to recover 20 bottles of Codeine and 09 Spasmoproxyvon Plus strips from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody,” a police spokesman said ina satteemnt issued here.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 165/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal and further investigation has been taken up.
Meanwhile, police urged people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. “Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law,” police said.
