Narco-terror module busted, heroin seized

Srinagar,: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said an inter-district narco-terror module was busted by arresting two militant associates and seizing heroin worth Rs 1.5 crores.
Police said the two — Nisar Ahmad Khan of Baramulla and Mohammad Rafiq Khan of Kupwara — were given the task of selling the contraband and the money so realized was to be used for funding terror activities.

The arrests were made during a routine checking at Chenad crossing in Baramulla by the police and army.
“During a search of the vehicle, 800 grams of contraband heroin-like substance was recovered and both persons were arrested,” a police statement said.

“During sustained questioning, they admitted they are working with the banned outfit LeT (Lashkar-e-Toiba) and were in close contact with handlers across (the border),“ the statement said.

An AK 47 magazine and a Chinese grenade were recovered from the vehicle.
