GDC Pampore students undergo disaster management training

Srinagar: As many as 70 students of Government Degree College Pampore underwent disaster preparedness training through mock drills for managing emergency situations arising out of a disaster event.

The training was organised by Civil Defence and J&K State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR) at Government Degree College Pampore in which more than 70 students, including girls are participating from today onwards, an official spokesman said.

The Training is based on experiential learning model, meant for the students of Disaster Management of the College and it will impart life saving skills to the students, through mock drills and hands-on instructions, for managing emergency situations arising out of a disaster event.

The Training Coordinator Dr Irfan Khursheed Shah gave brief details and listed expected outcomes of the training to the students, which was organized in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Science, Government Degree College Pampore.

Engineer Aamir Ali, Nodal Officer State Emergency Operating Centre (SEOC), who briefed the students about the importance of Disaster Management and the benefits of training was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Principal, Govt Degree College Pampore and Patron of the training Prof Seema Naz welcomed the participants and thanked the Trainers for their support and cooperation.

The training was imparted by Ghulam Nabi and coordinated by Ghulam Rasool from Civil Defence.
