Blaze guts Pandit ashram

Srinagar: A Pandit Ashram and a residential-cum-commercial complex were gutted in a devastating fire that broke out in Anantnag during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday causing extensive damage, an official said.

Fire and Emergency services said fire broke out at around 12.40 am in a building at Sherbagh area of south Kashmir and spread to nearby structures within no time.

Fire tenders were rushed to the spot as flames were leaping up from a vast area causing substantial damage to at least three complexes, also including a Floriculture Department hut .

The cause of fire and the estimated damage caused to the property is being ascertained, the official said.
