New 200 bedded building for DH Handwara near completion : MS

‘Construction agency has assured handing over of 3 floors by April’

Srinagar: Health authorities on Saturday said that the new 200 bedded building block for district hospital Handwara is under construction and is likely to be completed in five to six months.
Medical superintendent , DH Handwara in a statement said that the executing agency of the project has conveyed that 80 percent of the work has been completed.
The statement issued by the MS further said that the work on the new hospital building was delayed due to Covid 19 restrictions in last two years.
“The executing agency now has resumed the work on the hospital and has assured the completion of these floors of the building and handover of the same by the end of April 2022,” the statement said.
A section of print media had highlighted the issue of non-completion of the building despite the passage of many years.
MS in a statement admitted that the two patients sometimes share beds in the hospital but added that male patient shares bed with male only and female with female only.
MS in the statement also issued details about the bed present strength of the hospital.
“At present hospital has 18 casualty beds, 12 post operative beds , 10 gynae and 12 paediatric beds,” MS said.
