15 lakh Tulips to mesmerize visitors this year at Tulip garden

To be thrown open on Mar 23, preparations on for grand ceremony

Srinagar: Asia’s largest Tulip garden, located in the foothills of Zabarwan Hills, giving a majestic overview of famous Dal Lake is set to open for visitors from March 23.

However, this year there is much more on the plate for the visitors apart from the tulips.

The spring bloom shops and trees in the garden have been added for eye-catching attractions to the visitors this year.

Furthermore, an open air cafeteria has been set up in the garden while a Sakura garden is being constructed at the east side of the Tulip garden on which the work is going on in full swing.

The authorities are also planning for a grand ceremony this year that will be coupled with some celebrity appearances.

According to Director Floriculture there are around 15 lakh Tulips in full bloom on the display with varieties like Daffodil, Hyacinth and Muscari etc.

The temperature in Kashmir has steadily turned pleasant as soon the summer started that has made administration to take advantage and create an atmosphere for a bumper tourism season.

Director Farooq Ahmad Rather confirmed that the tulip garden will be thrown open for public from March 23.

The tourism department gives credit to the pleasant weather that will attract more tourists that too in the beginning of summer. Last year, around two lakh tourists visited the garden.
