Water supply restored to Palpora Kupwara: JSD

‘Nearby village had cut water supply pipe, no departmental lapse’

Srinagar: The Jal shakti department authorities in Kupwara on Wednesday said that the issue of the water shortage in Palpora village of the district has been resolved.
Residents of Palpora village on Tuesday had blocked the Palpora -Vilgam road in protest against water shortage for several days. Later police pacified the protesters assuting them of taking the issue with concerned department.
The grievance of the people was reported by a section of print media. Taking note of the reports , top authorities sought report from the district administration with regard to the water crisis in the village.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue , ACR, Revenue , Kupwara , in his report to the information department , Jammu and Kashmir said that as reported by the executive engineer , JSD , there was no lapse on part of the department.
ACR further said that the executive engineer , PHE , visited the spot personally where some people including women were on protest.
ACR in his report to information department further said that the women of Ashkanpora village had cut the water supply pipe passing through the area and stopped the water supply to the public of Vill Palpora.
“With the personal intervention of the JSD authorities the matter was resolved and water supply restored to the village,” ACR said.
