3 drug peddlers arrested: Police

Srinagar: Three drug peddlers were arrested in Kashmir and contraband substances were also recovered from their possession, police said on Sunday.

In Baramulla district, a police party during a routine checking at Hyderbeigh Pattan area, intercepted two persons, identified as Adil Mushtaq Bhat and Mohammad Ashraf Zargar, both residents of Eidgah Colony Kreeri.

During checking, the police were able to recover 145 grams of charas from their possession, the police said, adding that both the accused have been arrested.

Similarly in Awantipora, a police party of Reshipora at a checkpoint established at Ladermud arrested one drug peddler, identified as Mohd Ashraf Mir, a resident of Bemina Srinagar and recovered 600 grams of grinded Cannabis from his possession.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigation set in motion.
