Srinagar: Around 70 per cent sub-projects have been completed in the power sector under the Prime Minister’s Development Package for Jammu & Kashmir.
Documents accessed by The Precious Kashmir reveal that 135 sub-projects have been completed for strengthening transmission and distribution infrastructure in power sector.
Under the PMDP, the Government of India has committed to provide Rs 3790.00 crore for augmentation of infrastructure in the power sector.
According to documents, out of 30 sub-projects sanctioned for strengthening transmission system, 14 have been completed and 16 are in progress.
“In transmission system, capacity addition of 865 MVA (480 MVA at 220 kV level and 385 MVA at 132 kV level) has been achieved,” reads the documents.
As per documents, out of 158 sub-projects sanctioned, 121 works have been completed while 37 are in progress.
“In distribution system, capacity addition of 897.50 MVA has been achieved at 33 kV level by creation/ augmentation of 134 sub-stations, while 437 MVA has been achieved at 11 kV level by installation of 4390 distribution transformers,” the documents state.
Out of remaining 37 sub-projects, 31 projects have been awarded to Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited, Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited and RECPDCL and six projects are at advanced stage of award.
According to the documents, Rs 3021 crore has been so far sanctioned for strengthening transmission and distribution infrastructure in power sector. Against the release of Rs 2332.86 crores, Rs 1907.47 crore have been utilized so far.
