Hamirpur (HP): Most people affected by the Covid-19 variant Omicron suffer initially from cold, making it difficult to know immediately if they have the virus, an expert said on Wednesday.
Dr. Naresh Purohit, Advisor to the National Communicable Disease Control Programme, said that cases of the new variant are steadily increasing.
At present, 98 percent of the patients in Himachal Pradesh are in home isolation, he said.
Omicron has some different traits as compared to the earlier Delta variant and these are scary, Purohit said.
A research report published in the British Genetic Epidemiology Journal said that patients were experiencing unbearable pain in the body after being infected with Omicron. In the lower back, there was a lot of pain.
According to the report, most people are complaining of vomiting in the initial stages.
The report said that the pain in the lower back spreads to the muscles in the whole body.
Purohit, referring to a report by the US Centers for Disease Control, said some common symptoms associated with Omicron were cough, fatigue, phlegm and runny nose.
Some patients also report nausea, mild fever, sore throat and headache.
