‘2 LeT aides held in Budgam’

Srinagar: Two associates of Laskhar-e-Toiba militant group were arrested in Kashmir’s Budgam district, officials said on Friday.

Imran Majeed Magray and Aqib Amin of Mochwa Budgam were arrested from Chadoora by a joint team of forces.

Police said the duo were in touch with the Lashkar commanders.

“During preliminary investigation, it surfaced that both have been in touch with LeT commanders and were involved in providing logistics and shelter to militants and transporting arms and ammunition in Mochwa, Kralpora, Chattergam, Sathsoo, Nowgam, Chadoora and other adjacent areas,” a police statement said.

He said incriminating material of LeT and explosive substance including two grenades, two AK-47 magazines and 30 AK-47 rounds were recovered from them.

In last two days, four suspected militant associates have been arrested in Budgam district.

On December 23, two associates of Lashkar were arrested from Magam area in Budgam. Police identified them as Mohammad Shafi Ganai of Kawoosa Khalisa and Zahoor Ahmad Chopan of Mamoosa Pattan.
