Jammu records 24 blaze incidents on Diwali night

Jammu: Seeing a dip by 20 percent this year, as many as 24 fire incidents were reported at different locations on the Diwali night in the Jammu district.

However, a total 34 incidents were reported across the Jammu division.

“On Diwali night, 24 incidents were reported in different parts of the Jammu district in which goods worth lakhs have been destroyed as last year the number of incidents were 29,” an official said.

Sharing break up he said that in posh Gandhi Nagar locality, eight incidents, six in Panjtirthi, four in Gangyal, three in Roop Nagar, and one each in Akhnoor, R S Pura and Arnia were reported.

“This year there was a dip by 20 percent in incidents of fire,” he said.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration had fixed a two hours time slot for crackers bursting on Diwali night.

Meanwhile a total of 34 incidents of fire were reported in the Jammu division this time.

The teams of Fire and Emergency Service were on toes through to save human lives and property of people.

“In the district, 35 fire tenders and over 100 fire fighters were on duty to prevent any major tragedy,” an official said, adding that in all the 13 fire stations of the district, all fire fighting vehicles were kept ready to control the fire.

In Jammu district fire incidents were reported in Lower Roop Nagar, Malik Market, and Sainik Colony localities. (UNI)
