Jammu, Nov 02: Taking stern action after the submission of an interim report by the Disciplinary Committee, Jammu and Kashmir unit of BJP on Tuesday relieved former MLC of all official positions for his derogatory remarks against a particular community in a video that went viral on social media.

BJP Chief Spokesperson and Chairman of Disciplinary Committee, Sunil Sethi said that disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against Vikram Randhawa, State Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory in reference to making reckless and defamatory remarks against particular community and woman folk.

Pending finalizing of Disciplinary Proceedings, the Committee headed by him and. Virenderjeet Singh and N D Rajwal as its members have submitted an interim report in view of the impact of the reckless statement of Vikram Randhawa that earned the party a bad name.

“It has been recommended to immediately relieve Randhawa of all official party positions pending finalizing of disciplinary proceedings,” said Sethi adding that the report was examined by the party president and it has been decided to agree with interim recommendations of the committee report.

The Party President decided to take strict action against Randhawa as the party believes in respecting all religions particularly women and it is unacceptable that a person occupying high position makes a statement that has hurt religious sentiments, he said.

“An FIR has also been registered against him so it was decided to relieve Vikram Randhawa of all official positions with immediate effect pending finalizing of disciplinary proceedings against him,” said Sethi in a statement. (UNI)
