Srinagar: Scores of aspirants, who are deaf and dumb, staged a protest on Monday against Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) for allegedly failing to fill required number of seats.

The aspirants assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave while carrying the placards reading ‘Save Future of Deaf and Mute People’ and ‘We Want Justice’.

The protesters demanded authorities to fill 80 posts, saying that only 16 have been adjusted in the recently held written examination while rest of the candidates have been dropped from the selection list by JKSSB.

A guardian, who was among protesters, on behalf of deaf and mute aspirants said, “The aspirants had applied for JKSSB written exams. Every specially-abled category was given one percent reservation but among the deaf and mute aspirants, only 16 have been selected for the posts out of 80 posts.”

“We have sent representations to JKSSB and many other concerned authorities for justice, and we demand adjustment of 80 posts in JKSSB,” he said. (KNO)
