26 PSA detainees shifted to Agra Jail

Srinagar:  Authorities on Monday shifted 26 PSA detainees from Kashmir who were lodged in various prisons in the Jammu division and the Valley to central jail Agra in Uttar Pradesh.

The order in this regard  was issued by J&K’s Principal Secretary Home department. Some of these detainees, the sources said were already lodged in jails in Jammu division including central Jail Kotbhalwal Jammu, district jail Rajouri and Jammu. The others were lodged in central jail Srinagar besides district jails of Kupwara and Baramulla.

The order comes as numerous people have been detained on allegations of being overground workers of the militant organizations. Also there is heightened security measures put by the government and among others include large scale frisking of people including women and children at several places besides construction of security bankers in city and elsewhere in what is seen as throwback to situation in early 90s.
