Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (UT) on Thursday achieved the milestone of 100 percent coverage of first dose COVID-19 vaccine for the age group of above 18 years old across all 20 districts.
According to an official spokesman, an estimated population of 93,03,842 souls was covered during the vaccination drives which was seen as a hard task keeping in view the topography of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said around 93 lac souls receive Covid shot in 18+ age group
He said, the vaccinators left no stone unturned till they vaccinated the last eligible soul.
Keeping with the pace of vaccination, the government administered 82,229 doses of COVID-19Â vaccine in the past 24 hours across the UT, while around 13,494,675 doses have been administered with COVID vaccine here till date.
93 fresh cases reported
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir registered 93 new Covid-19 cases even as there was no death due to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Thursday.
Among the fresh cases, 21 were reported from Jammu Division and 72 from Kashmir, taking the overall tally to 330834.
There was no death due to the virus. So far 4426—2174 in Jammu and 2252 in Kashmir—have died due to the pathogen, they said.
Giving district wise details, the officials said that Srinagar reported 47 cases, Baramulla 12, Budgam 4, Pulwama 0, Kupwara 5, Anantnag 2, Bandipora 2, Ganderbal 0, Kulgam 0, Shopian 0, Jammu 6, Udhampur 0, Rajouri 0, Doda 10, Kathua 0, Samba 0, Kishtwar 0, Poonch 0, Ramban 0 and Reasi 5.
A number of these cases were confirmed at CD hospital’s diagnostic laboratory and include male (NA) from Qazigund, female (40) from Narwara, female (13) from Chanapora Bellow, female (70) from Lalbazar, male (42) from Bemina and male (23) from Dogripora Pulwama.
Moreover, the officials said that 104 more patients have recovered—28 from Jammu Division and 76 from Kashmir. So far 325473 patients have recovered, leaving active case tally at 935—211 in Jammu and 724 in Kashmir.
They said there was one fresh confirmed case of mucormycosis (black fungus) reported today. So far 48 black fungus cases have been confirmed in J&K, the officials said.
The government also informed that 82229 doses of covid-19 vaccine were administered during the time in J&K.
While government claimed that 18 Districts have achieved 100% first dose vaccine coverage in 18 plus age group, the data revealed by it showed that three districts—Kupwara (93.86%), Udhampur (95.18%) and Kishtwar (81.85%) have still some way to go to reach the milestone. The districts with 100% coverage include Srinagar, Baramulla, Kathua, Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban, Doda, Samba, Reasi, Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama, Budgam, Bandipora and Ganderbal.
