Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday arrested four drug peddlers and recovered large quantity of contraband substances during separate raids in the valley.
According to a police spokesman, police on a specific information that two persons identified as Abdul Hameed Sheikh and Bilal Ahmad resident of Chillipora have indulged in drug peddling and have hoarded a huge quantity of narcotic substance in their residential houses.
Zainapora police station alongwith Executive Magistrate raided the specific locations. During search, officers were able to recover 189Kg of Charas grinded leaves, 1.5Kg of Charas Powder and 30Kgs of Poppy Straw from the said residential houses.
He said that four accused persons have been arrested so far. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Meanwhile, Police Station Kakapora received a specific information about two persons namely Gulzar Ahmad alias Beta and Muhammad Rafiq—residents of Mohanviji Kakapora have indulged in drug peddling and have hoarded a huge quantity of narcotic substance in their residential houses.
On receipt of this information, a police party of Kakapora headed along with Executive Magistrate raided the specific locations. During searches, 27Kgs of Cannabis leaves and 28Kgs of Poppy Straw from the said residential houses.
However, the accused persons managed to escape and efforts are on to nab them soon.
