Srinagar: Today Science Day was celebrated by village children and the Army at Kamkari hamlet near the Line of Control in Macchal Sector, Kupwara, an Army spokesman said in a statement.
He said that numerous science projects, medical equipments and surveillance devices were displayed at the Kamkari Middle School. “The school children of this remote border area were very happy to see these modern equipments and devices. Majority of these projects were hand made by troops and have been handed over to the local school for use. The unit had earlier distributed stationary items for children to ensure that children’s studies are not adversely affected due to COVID 19,” the spokesman added.
“During the event, the Medical Officer of the Local Army unit also briefed the children on the importance of first aid, precautions to be taken from common ailments and cold related injuries and also on the use of common medicines to treat these,” he said.
