Kashmiri student committed suicide: DGP Punjab

Srinagar: A Kashmiri student who was found hanging on terrace in a Punjab college has committed suicide, DG Punjab Police said.

Body of Umar Ahad Dave resident of Chewdara, Beerwah , Badgam, a student of RIMT University Gobindgarh, Mandi Ludhiana Road was found in the hanging on the terrace of the college early Monday morning.

Almost all political and other organizations have demanded investigation into the death of Umar.

However, today Director General of Punjab Police has confirmed that Umar had committed suicide and a suicide has been recovered.

Raveen Thukral, Media Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh gave this information on his twitter handle on Tuesday.

Thukral said “Just been informed by @DGPPunjabPolice that Umar Ahad was in depression and he left behind a suicide note. His brother Shaukat, a J@K police constable, has reached FGS. Postmortem being conducted & his family is satisfied with the investigations. Thorough probe on.”

He has also posted alleged suicide note of Umar in english on his twitter handle. (UNI)
