Felicitates Tokyo Olympians, emphasis on punctuality, freight earning
New Delhi: Ashutosh Gangal, General Manager Northern Railway held a safety review meeting with the departmental heads of Northern Railway and with DRM’s through video conferencing from Baroda House, NR headquarter office in New Delhi.
Amongst many issues deliberations were on safety on tracks, enhancement of speed, freight, punctuality, train operations.
According to a statement issued here, he instructed that, works of passenger amenities like provision of escalators, lifts, washable aprons, improvement in station building, circulating areas and others should be given priority and must be completed in a stipulated time frame.
Safety is the prime focus over Railways. The GM emphasized on improving the maintenance standards of tracks, level crossings and construction of boundary wall along the track in high speed sections.
He also advised to make efforts to clear encroachment near the railway tracks to ensure safety. On improving the infrastructure the GM said that, greater focus should be on the Level crossings. They should be revamped and road surfaces should be improved. Moreover the road users should be sensitized not to cross the lines when the LC gates are closed.
Gangal said that rains have been very heavy in many spots across Northern Railway. Sometimes this is posing great difficulty in train operations over stretches where water has collected over the tracks. Northern Railway continuously monitored the water logging and made all efforts in clearing the tracks by pressing in additional pumps for water evacuation and clearing the green vegetation pop up around tracks after rains. Moreover the local rain fed rivers and drains are in spate which is causing flooding in the embankments of the rail lines compounding the problem of train movement.
In an another ceremony held at Baroda House, New Delhi, General Manager Northern Railway also felicitated Tokyo Olympians of Northern Railway. GM Congratulated the players and coaches for their stupendous performance.
Players and Coaches felicitated were BajrangPunia, Bronze Medal winner, Ravi Kumar Dahiya, Silver Medal Winner, Anil Maan, Men’s Wrestling Coach, Rajeev Tomar, Men’s Wrestling Coach, Kuldeep Malik and Women’s Wrestling Coach.
Additional General Manager, NR all PHODs, Secretary to GM, President NRSA and Secretary NRSA were present on the occasion.
