Anantnag: The residents of Thajiwara village in Achabal belt of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district staged protest against shortage of drinking water in the area.
The protestors blocked the main road, which led to traffic jam in the area. They said that the area is facing acute shortage of water since last one month now.
āWe have brought this issue in notice of higher ups several times but to no avail,ā the residents said.
A resident Wahid Ahmed said, āOur taps have turned dry a month before but the department has failed to look into the matter and take any step in this regard.ā
He said that in absence of drinking water they are forced to drink contaminated water. āAmid soaring temperatures, people of the area are facing a lot of problems but no attention is being directed towards it,ā the protestor said.
āDespite submitting fee on time, no potable water is being provided to the area,ā said a woman protestor
Protestors said that tall claims of the government that every basic facility is being provided to the people are getting punctured here as issues have remained unsolved for a long time now.
They requested higher ups to look into the area so that they can heave a sigh of relief among the soaring temperature. (KNO)
