Srinagar: A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in PeethSeer area in North Kashmir’s Sopore of Baramulla district on Monday.
Reports said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 52RR and 179/ 177 BN of CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Peethseer late in the evening. “As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight,” reports added.
A senior police officer also confirmed to GNS about exchange of firing between militants and security forces.
As per the sources two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
