Srinagar: Lt Governor Manoj Sinha will preside over the main Independence Day (ID) function in Jammu and Kashmir while District Development Council (DDC) chairpersons will hoist national flag in their respective districts.
Meanwhile, a fresh high alert has been sounded and security forces have been deployed in strength across Kashmir valley to prevent any militant attack in view of Independence Day celebrations on Sunday.
“The Lieutenant Governor will preside over the main Independence Day function to be held at S K Cricket Stadium in the summer capital, Srinagar,” read an order issued by General Administration Department (GAD).
It further said that Advisor to LG R R Bhatnagar will preside over the function at M A Stadium in Jammu, while the Mayors of the twin capital cities – Srinagar and Jammu – would attend the main functions in their respective cities. Similarly, DDC chairpersons of Srinagar and Jammu would also attend the main functions in their respective cities.
The DDC chairpersons will hoist national flag and rank salute at the march past in their respective districts.
Block Development Council (BDC) chairpersons will preside over the functions in their respective blocks and Municipal Committee presidents in their respective areas. (UNI)
