Hospital has no X-ray films, patients face hardships
Anantnag: In Covid times biochemistry analyser at Maternity and Childcare Hospital (MCH) Anantnag has been defunct for the past one month and X-ray films are not available, forcing patients to get the investigation done at private clinics.
Sources in the hospital said that the bio-chemistry analyser in the hospital nearly a month developed a major snag. Following which the analyser became non-functional, the hospital authorities contacted a private firm, Mediciti, supposed to repair the equipment under the bio-medical maintenance scheme.
The company, sources said, sent a representative to the hospital to check the snag. “He later told the hospital authorities that the machine needs major repairs and will be set right within two or three days. However nearly a month has passed the firm which has a contract with the authorities has failed to set the machine right,” a source said.
The hospital, according to sources, also does not have X ray films for last ten days.
Due to the defunct analyser and non availability of X- ray films , patients visiting the hospital are forced to get these investigations done at private diagnostic centers and laboratories.
Deputy Commissioner Anantnag had also visited the hospital last week and asked the GMC authorities to immediately set right the defunct analyser and make the X-ray films available after some patients complained to him that they were asked to get the X-ray done at GMC or in private.
However, sources said, neither X-ray films were made available nor the analyser was set right as a result of which poor patients continue to suffer.
The MCH is an associated hospital of GMC Anantnag and is one of the overcrowded maternity hospitals in the Valley after Lal Ded hospital in Srinagar.
Medical superintendent, MCH, Mir Ji Indrabi said that they have been conducting tests manually since the analyser is defunct.
“It is the job of the firm to repair the analyser but that is only buying time. We have also sent a requisition to GMC principal for X ray films. Purchasing the same is not in my competence,” the MS said.
