Srinagar: In a major achievement, six patients have underwent primary/rescue angioplasty in government super specialty Hospital in Srinagar on Tuesday in just a day.
An official said two among them were in cardiogenic shock.
“The six patients include a 70-year-old smoker with diabetes, 48-year-old male smoker, 47-year-old male smoker, 37-year year-old male smoker, 58 year old female suffering from hypertension and 46-year-old army man, also a smoker,” he said.
He said all the six angioplasty were done free of cost under Ayushman Sehat Scheme.
He further added that six patients are stable and are doing well and previous record in J&K was five in SKIMS in year 2015.
He added that this data shows how rampant is heart attack and how risk factors particularly smoking plays a very important role in causing heart attacks in young.
He said that primary angioplasty is the best procedure if done timely and is much superior to thrombolysis as seen in two rescue angioplasties who had failed thrombolysis.
He said that Government Super Specialty Hospital Shireen Bagh Srinagar is fully equipped and geared to tackle any such burden with three cathlabs and 11 cardiologists in place. (KNO)
