Physical verification of projects: Govt asks officials to seek feedback to locals

Srinagar: The administration of Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory has directed authorities to obtain feedback from locals while conducting physical verification of development projects.

Documents reveal that these directions were passed by Financial Commissioner, Finance Arun Kumar Mehta on Wednesday while chairing a meeting at civil secretariat, Jammu to review physical verifications of projects.

“While conducting physical verification of the projects, the comments of the locals should be obtained,” reads the directions passed by FC, Finance.

The senior bureaucrat also directed officials to ensure 100 percent physical verification of the works/projects being implemented under various schemes.

“The physical verification teams shall avoid technical comments unless the team is accompanied by a technical member,” read the documents.

Mehta, according to minutes of the meeting, also directed officials that major discrepancies noticed during the physical verification shall be brought into the notice of Finance department (Department of Expenditure Divison-1) for district -sector projects and Department of Expenditure Divison-11) for state sector immediately and follow-up action to be initiated in a time-bound manner.

“The Regional Directors, Evaluation & Statistics shall submit a list of projects from each district for higher level examination,” read the documents.
