Army provides medical supplies, equipment to fight COVID-19

Srinagar, July 9: Indian Army, apart from safeguarding the borders, is also taking several initiatives for the betterment of the people. The Army has played a significant role in the development and upliftment of the educational system in the Kashmir and the same is evident from the outstanding results achieved by the students of the schools aided by the Army, a spokesman of the Army said in a statement.

“Besides imparting quality education, Indian Army has considered the present scenario of COVID-19 pandemic and has taken the effort for providing medical supplies and equipment for school children and staff of Government Primary School, Wavoosa to prevent the spread of disease and have contributed in keeping a check on COVID-19 pandemic in the children of Kashmir especially those coming from the poorer sections of the society,” the statement said.

It said, “For safeguarding school going children and staff who are most vulnerable to   COVID-19 disease, Army Garrison Old Air Field has distributed medical supplies and equipment to children and staff of Government Primary School, Wavoosa in Rangreth. In a low scale event organized on Wednesday, the Army provided medical supplies and equipment to staff to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The ceremony was attended by teachers and senior Army officials, wherein the teachers were encouraged to make best use of the ideal integrated educational ecosystem being provided to them for their all-round personality development. The teachers were requested to attend the ceremony while duly maintaining adequate social distancing so that the medical supplies & equipment could be handed over to them which could be sent across to the needy children of their school.”
