India’s COVID-19 tally nears 5.5 lakh-mark


Death toll spikes to 16,475


New Delhi, Jun 29:
After witnessing a sharp spike of 19,459 cases in the past 24 hrs, India’s Covid-19 tally has neared 5.5 lakh-mark, Union Health Ministry said on Monday.

The total number of confirmed cases across the country now stands at 5,48,318 with 16,475 patients losing their battle to the pandemic after 380 deaths were recorded since Sunday.

Meanwhile, as many as 3,21,723 COVID-19 patients have recovered so far. The recovery rate that is improving day by day against the active cases now stands at 58.67 per cent.

At present, there are 2,10,120 active cases pan India that are 1,11,603 less than the total recoveries.

According to the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), 82,98,362 samples have been tested all over country for the virus till Sunday.
