Srinagar, Jan 19: Director, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Bashir Ahmad Khan Tuesday said there is no shortage of essential commodities in Kashmir.
He said Food and supplies have ration of two months available, LPG Supply of 12 days and as the supply service has been restored and would augment supply of Essential commodities.
“Scarcity of grocery items is no more after the restoration of National highway as the loaded trucks have reached the valley with these items. People should not Panic about scarcity of any essential commodity and Department has reports of availability of essentials,” he said.
On being asked about the rumours that Ration Quota has been decreased, Khan said there has been no curtailment in ration quota but consumers have to submit their adhar details at their respective stores and they will get ration only through POS Machines. “The consumers can contact us for any query or complaint on our Toll free no. 18001807011.”
On the mutton crisis in valley, he refuted allegation of Mutton dealers about purchasing livestock on high rates.
“There are some dealers who are creating chaos that they are getting livestock on high rates and they will sell on high rates while their counter partners are selling on Govt. approved Rates and people are buying.”
”I appeal people to seek Rate list and if someone is giving you on high price; question him. If they don’t agree, contact us or file complaint in nearest police station”, Khan added (KNS).

 

Ensure prompt civic services delivery; timely redressal of public grievances: Baseer to officers

Baramulla, Jan 19: Affirming government’s commitment towards strengthening transparency and accountability in governance mechanism, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Tuesday emphasized ensuring prompt delivery of civic services besides timely redressal of public grievances.
He made these remarks during a meeting chaired by him to take stock of post snowfall scenario besides getting first hand appraisal of various developmental projects being executed in the district.
While taking a thorough review of various essential services like power supply, drinking water availability, snow clearance etc, Advisor observed that all those matters having vital public significance should be given due consideration adding that available resources shall be mobilized effectively for greater public convenience. He directed the concerned authorities of Power Development Department to provide uninterrupted power supply during the schedule hours and strictly abide by the curtailment timetable.
Taking an appraisal of COVID-19 vaccination programme, Advisor directed the concerned authorities to disseminate awareness among the people so that different misconceptions and apprehensions regarding the vaccine are eliminated.
Meanwhile, District Development Commissioner Dr G N Itoo presented progress achieved in different sectors through power point presentation. He said that all the essential services that had been disrupted due to snowfall have been restored through implementation of an effective response mechanism.
Later, several delegations called on the Advisor and apprised him of their demands and grievances pertaining to development works in their respective areas.
A delegation of All Tribals Coordination Committee demanded effective implementation of Forest Rights Act in all the eligible areas. They demanded that the date for claiming the forest rights under the Act should be extended owing to adverse weather conditions in such areas. Other demands raised by the delegation included inclusion of a member from ST community in Forest Rights Committees, dissemination of awareness in vernacular language about FRA at grass root level.
Meanwhile, Sopore Coordination Committee, Traders Federation Baramulla and a delegation from Rafiabad area also called on the Advisor and highlighted their grievances and demands.
Advisor assured that all the problems and demands raised by the delegations shall be redressed in a time bound.
Director, Rural Development Department, Chief Engineer KPDCL, SDMs, heads of various departments, Engineers of line departments, district officers among other concerned functionaries were present on the occasion(KNS).

CBK produces charge sheet against accused for producing fake certificates

Srinagar, Jan 19: The Crime Branch Kashmir today produced charge sheet against Mohammad Arif Ganie S/O Ghulam Nabi Ganie R/O Gutligung Verinag Anantnag in Case FIR No. 09/2011 U/S 420, 468,471,201 RPC before the Court of Special Magistrate 13th Finance / Railways Srinagar.
The case pertains to the appointment of a Junior Engineer (Electric) in Power Development Department through Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) on the production of fake and forged diploma marks card, Provisional Certificate etc.
Consequent upon a written complaint, the investigation was set into motion and it was found that the accused Mohammad Arif Ganie poduced fake and forged Certificates before the competent authority to obtain appointment orders as Jr. Engineer (Electric) in Power Development Department(KNS).

Srinagar, Jan 19: The District Level Screening Committee cum inter-departmental committee(s) constituted by the District Administration, Srinagar approved an assistance of Rs 38.20 Lakh in cases of houses damaged due to recent heavy snowfall; assistance to affected families, reconstruction aid and also restoration and upgradation of power distribution stations as well as school buildings.
Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Shahid Choudhary chaired the DLSCC meeting.
An amount of Rs 40.23 Lakh was sanctioned in cases of houses damaged due to heavy snowfall which included 09 houses fully damaged, 6 houses partially damaged, 7 sheds and a number of roof-tops damaged during the heavy snowfall. Amount was released to respective Tehsils for crediting to the accounts of affected families, including Rs 3.84 Lakh in Tehsil Shalteng, Rs 4.35 Lakh in Tehsil South, Rs 3.27 Lakh in tehsil North, Rs 2.76 Lakh in Tehsil Chanapora, Rs 3.97 Lakh in Tehsil Eidgah, Rs 7.80 Lakh in Tehsil Khanyar and Rs 8.15 Lakh in Tehsil Panthachowk. Another amount of Rs 6 Lakh was released in favour of families having suffered various damages during the snowfall. The assistance amounts if being credited to the accounts of families through DBT.
Meanwhile, the DLSC also approved the replacement and upgradation of 25 transformers in various areas of Tehsils Khanyar, Eidgah, Shalteng, South, North, Chanapora and Panthachowk falling under different divisions of power department in view of replacement necessitated. This will augment the power supply in concerned areas and offer the required relief in view of increased consumption. Tehsildars were asked to facilitate concerned Executive Engineers for suitable locations for replacement and installation of distribution transformers. In view of various transformers damaged due to accumulated snow falling from rooftops the department will be earmarking alternate locations.
The DLSC also sanctioned restoration of 7 school buildings damaged in snowfall and asked the Education Department to conduct an assessment viz a viz safety of all the school buildings in Srinagar. SMC was asked to ensure that structural safety is monitored as per approved building permissions taking into account safety norms as a large number of roof tops damaged during the snowfall were found to be not constructed as per norms.

Reviews implementation of CCTNS

Jammu, Jan 19: The Director General of Police Dilbag Singh Tuesday chaired a high level meeting to review the implementation of Crime & Criminal Tracking Network Systems (CCTNS) in the Jammu and Kashmir at Police Headquarters.

Speaking on the occasion, the DGP said the CCTNS is a platform which when fully implemented will help in prevention and investigation of crime cases in a desired manner and at a faster pace. During the review, the DGP impressed upon the district SSsP to encourage and motivate the field officers to update the system by filling in information in different columns so that optimum use of CCTNS is ensured.

He advised the officers particularly the SSsP to make full use of different features of the software and update it by filling the crime figures which will go a long way in studying the patterns of crime.

The DGP also said that the user districts can benefit from the information updated on the system by knowing about the crimes & the criminals and can make use of this information while giving No objection certificates, verifications and in general investigation of the cases. He impressed upon the officers to take full use of the training facilities and built the capacity of their personnel so that this system is implemented completely in the UT.

While referring of the crime against women, children and other vulnerable sections of the society, the DGP said that different helplines established must be functional 24X7 along with the Women Police Stations and Women Police Cells established in all the districts including police districts of the UT. The DGP expressed the hope that by this presentation of the IGP Crime M. K. Sinha, the nodal officer of CCTNS, the officers would have got fairly sensitized and impressed that the target of 100 percent data entry must be completed as quick as possible.

The DGP also impressed upon the officers to take full advantage of different schemes of Center and UT Governments with regard to establishing as well as upgrading of Anti Human Trafficking Units (AHTU). The DGP also said that he has already given directions with regard to enhancing the communication by procuring and putting to use dedicated smart mobile phones for updating CCTNS networking.

Srinagar, Jan 19: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole Tuesday visited the Sher-I-Kashmir Stadium Sonwar to take stock of the snow clearance work and related arrangements for the ensuing Republic Day function.

Keeping the weather forecast into consideration, the Div Com instructed concerned to keep their men and machinery in ready gear and keep all snow related equipments stationed at the stadium by January – 22 morning for prompt response in case there is more snowfall in the Valley.

He directed concerned to ensure speedy snow clearance from the ground and all parking places for the hassle-free conduct of Republic Day function.

The Div Com called for immediate restoration of the snow damaged rooftop of the central pavilion and asked concerned to ensure proper heating arrangements are made for all those who shall be participating in the function.

He also instructed concerned to take up main gate Church Lane construction work on priority and ensure the same is executed on war footing.

The concerned were instructed to ensure all arrangements are put in advance for smooth conduct of March- past and cultural events.

Stressing on fool-proof arrangements, the Div Com said that there shall be no relaxations to any loopholes or mistakes at the venue.

He said that various online competitions like painting and other programmes as students can’t participate in parade and cultural events due to Covid-19. Besides, a training session of indoor exercises particularly Yoga for immune maintaining shall also be demonstrated during the function.

The Div Com instructed that among other invitees, literary persons, sports persons, progressive farmers and Covid warriors shall also be invited to facilitate them during the function.

He emphasized on making proper refreshment arrangements for all invitees and participants.

He stressed on making fool-proof security arrangements to ensure hassle-free celebrations of Republic Day functions.

To ensure strict adherence to laid down guidelines and precautions, the Div Com emphasized on conducting antigen testing of all participating in march past parades for their safe participation in full day rehearsal and final day functions.

 

Traffic Police Rural Jammu introduces e-Challan system

Jammu, Jan 19: To maintain the high degree of accountability, transparency and discipline in Traffic management system, Sr. Superintendent of Police, Traffic Rural, Jammu, Mohan Lal Kaith Tuesday launched e-challan system in Samba & Kathua districts.
The Challaning officers have already been given training regarding use and configuration of e-challan devices by the IT Section, THQ J&K from time to time.
The aim and objective of launching the e-challan system is to realize the imposed fine on the spot from the violators as per the provisions of new Motor vehicle Act.
Similar, joint special drives were also launched in Rajouri and Poonch Districts under the close supervision of DySP (Traffic) Rajouri-Poonch, Mohammad Zabir Mirza.
The SSP Traffic Rural Jammu directed the challaning officers to ensure the wearing of body cameras, while challaning and asked them to act tough against serious offences like overloading, driving without seat belts- Crash Helmets, use of mobile phone while driving & over speeding etc. He also met with representatives of transport Union, drivers and cleaners of vehicles, as well as general Public during the drive near AIIMS Vijaypur, and sought their full cooperation with the traffic officers.
The SSP (Traffic) Rural Jammu stressed upon the motorists and commercial transporters to keep all the documents and get the same checked at established Traffic checking point/nakas. He advised the owners of the vehicles, transporters and agents to extend their full co-operation to the traffic cops, to keep a close watch on the violators.
The officer, especially, advised the youth to wear crash helmet while driving bikes / two wheelers and avoid triple riding for their safety and security.
Meanwhile, during the e-challaning drives, 93 vehicles were challaned and a fine to the tune of Rs.79, 800 was imposed and realized from the violators, as per the provisions of New Motor Vehicle Act.

 

DC Sgr sanctions Rs 30 lakh relief, housing assistance to families affected in recent fire incidents

Srinagar, Jan 19: The Srinagar district administration has sanctioned relief and compensation amounts in favour of families affected in the recent fire incidents in the district. The relief amounts will be in addition to the immediate assistance in the form of household items provided to the affected families.

The administration has also issued directions for providing housing assistance for reconstruction in cases where the affected houses were damaged fully.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Shahid Iqbal Choudhary sanctioned the relief in a meeting – convened here Tuesday under his chairmanship – of concerned officers including among others ADC Srinagar Syed Haneef Balkhi, JD Planning Mohammad Yaseen Lone, ACR Srinagar Rour-ur-Rehman and Tehsildars concerned.

It is notable that 23 structures were damaged and 44 families affected in 8 different fire incidents reported at Gandarpora, Nawakadal, Zadibal, Allochibagh, Habbakadal, Wattalkadal, Nadpora, Chanpora and Panthachowk.

In each of these incidents the Srinagar district administration rushed immediate assistance to the affected families. The assistant provided included Rs 3 lakh cash assistance, 175 mattresses, 180 blankets, 200 bed sheets apart from kitchen sets and other household items.

Now after assessment of losses in these incidents the DC Srinagar has sanctioned an assistance of Rs 30 lakh in favour of affected families. The amount includes Rs 1 lakh each for restoration of damaged structures, Rs 3000-4000 assistance for kitchen items, Rs 5000 cash assistance, Rs 10000-15000 each for subsistence expenses in view of the harsh weather conditions.

Speaking during the meeting Shahid appreciated the efforts of the Fire & Emergency Services officials and the local youth for prompt response which helped minimise the losses in the fire incidents. He also appreciated the revenue officials for immediate relief and assistance to families in dire need.

The DC asked the concerned officials to propose the cases for assistance under PMAY for assistance of Rs 1.68 lakh each in cases of fully damaged houses stating that the assistance will enable the affected families to reconstruct their houses. He also emphasised the inclusion of fire safety norms in all building permission cases for residential structures in the district.

Police arrest 3 for illegal trade of LPG gas cylinders in Kulgam

Srinagar, Jan 19: Police in Kulgam have arrested three persons involved in illegal trade of LPG gas cylinders near Alstop on NHW.
A police spokesman said a police party Mirbazar while conducting a routine patrolling on NHW near to Alstop found a truck bearing registration No. JK02A-3295 and a Tata Mobile bearing registration No. JK03G-6760 loaded with LPG Cylinders, where some persons were found breaking the seals of company filled LPG Cylinders and refilling some quantity of gas into empty LPG cylinders illegally. After filling gas in empty Cylinders they were resealing the gas cylinders with new seals.
Subsequently, the Police party swung into action and arrested three persons from the spot. They have been identified as Reyaz Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Hassan Dar resident of Chowgam Kulgam, Muneeb Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Hassan Shah resident of Sopat Tengpora and Javid Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Rasool Dar resident of Pinzri Shalteng Srinagar. Both the vehicles used in the commission of crime have been seized.
Preliminary investigation reveals the arrested accused persons were doing this unscrupulous act from quite some time.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 07/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation in the matter has been initiated.

LAWDA conducts demolition drive in Sgr areas

Srinagar, Jan 19: The Enforcement Wing of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) Tuesday conducted demolition operations at Nowpora, Bagh-i-Roop Singh Miskeen Bagh, Chandpora Harwan and Saderbal areas of Srinagar city.
During the demolition drive, one basement, one shop, (one No) single storey, (Two No) second storeys, (one No) third storey, one Showroom and one wooden truss, raised illegally by the violators were demolished on the spot.
During the drive, the demolition squad faced stiff resistance at Nowpora and Bagh-i-Roop Singh Miskeen Bagh from the assembled crowd resulting in injuries to one demolition squad member namely Mehraj-ud-din Khanday.
Meanwhile, the public residing within the LDA jurisdiction and in lake are hereby directed not to go for any sort of illegal constructions / encroachments, without obtaining proper building permission from the competent authority.
It was given out that strict action in terms of conducting demolitions followed by lodging of FIR’s shall be taken against those who try to raise the constructions in the In-Lake / Green Belt areas (200mts).
