Srinagar, Sep 11: Four days after a gunfight, the body of a local militant was recovered by the forces on Thursday night from a stream in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
A brief gunfight had broken out between militants and security forces at Kawoosa Budgam, n September 7. “After the gunfight, the searches in the area continued. Besides marine commandos continued the search in the nallah. Late last night the body of the militant was fished out,” a security official told KINS.
Police said the militant had jumped into the nallah after getting injured.
“The slain has been identified as Aqib Lone, of Aglar Pulwama and was associated with JeM,” said a police officer, adding “the operation in Budgam has now been called off.”
