Gusty winds, rain wreak havoc in Kashmir parts

Srinagar, Apr 5:  Gusty winds coupled with rainfall triggered damage in parts of Kashmir while as a residential house was damaged in a village in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday.

A windstorm followed by heavy rains damaged roofs of dozens of houses in parts of Kashmir. Locals said that gusty winds partially damaged roof of a residential building in Chatta Bugh, Budgam.

A villager from Haran village of Budgam district said: “Dozens of trees were uprooted while the rooftops of some residential houses also suffered damages due to the winds while as power lines also fell down in the village.”

Similar reports of damage to rooftops and trees were also received from other parts of the Valley. Witnesses said that that due to high intensity wind, many trees and power lines also fell, leading to disruption in electricity.

Official from Power Department said, “We are checking where the power wires have fallen. We will fix them as soon as possible and the power will be restored soon“—(KNO)
