Prez urges youth to build Viksit Bharat

NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended Diwali greetings to the countrymen, announcing that he would celebrate the festival with defence personnel, continuing his annual tradition of spending the occasion with the armed forces.

In a video message titled “Have a great Diwali”, Modi said the festival of lights symbolised the country’s resolve against darkness and wished happiness, well-being and prosperity for all.

“Like every year, I will again be celebrating Diwali with our brave defence personnel,” he said.

Earlier, Modi met Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan at Uprashtrapati Bhawan and exchanged Diwali greetings.

President Droupadi Murmu also extended greetings to citizens on the eve of Diwali, urging the country’s youth to contribute enthusiastically towards building a ‘Viksit Bharat’ while remaining guided by Indian values.

In her message, Murmu called for environmental protection and harmony, wishing Indians in the country and abroad good health, happiness and prosperity.

Describing Diwali as a festival symbolising the victory of virtue over evil, she recalled the return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya after his victory over Ravan and said the festival also represented the auspicious beginning of Ram Rajya.

Meanwhile, Vice-President Radhakrishnan reached Ayodhya to participate in Deepotsav 2026, marking the 10th anniversary of the grand celebrations.

Organisers are targeting the lighting of over 30 lakh earthen lamps across 56 ghats, including Ram Ki Paidi and the banks of the Saryu river.

During his visit, the Vice-President is scheduled to offer prayers at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, participate in the symbolic coronation ceremony of Lord Ram and felicitate saints.

Meanwhile, UAE Vice President and Dubai Ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on Saturday extended Diwali wishes to those celebrating Diwali in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and around the world.
