Expanding hopes

The Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences has long served as a beacon of hope for many patients in Jammu and Kashmir. With the development of their infrastructure and equipment, both in their main building and in their Medical College, the institute is taking a step towards providing superior specialist healthcare.

This should be greatly applauded.

In the past patients from the Valley have had to travel great distances to other cities to receive treatments not available in their area.

However, this has caused significant hardship for patients. The fact that they are now increasing their capacity shows they are making a huge difference by providing world class healthcare.

By developing their infrastructure in the main building and Medical College they will be providing a level of dignity.

With modernised wards, more diagnostic rooms and improved education facilities, they will be providing better patient care and training for future doctors and specialists.

By investing in some top of the range medical equipment they will be able to provide accurate diagnoses and advanced treatment.

This will make them completely self-sufficient tertiary care facility. Patients needing complicated heart, cancer, neurological and other specialist treatments will no longer have to leave their home country to receive high quality treatment.

This will reduce the pressure on families and reduce the pressure on family budgets.

It shows that Jammu and Kashmir deserve top tier healthcare facilities. By investing in SKIMS they are showing that they value the health of their people.

SKIMS has always been a place of dedication and sacrifice. Doctors and staff work tirelessly to help the community. This development is a great recognition of all the hard work they do and will allow them to provide even more help.

They should be praised for this incredible move. Everyone can’t wait for patients across Jammu and Kashmir to be able to say that the best treatment is available right on their doorstep.
