1 dead, 46 injured in Ramban accidents

RAMBAN, OCTOBER 3: One person was killed and 46 others, including nine security personnel, were injured in two separate road accidents at Marog on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) in Ramban district on Friday.

A tourist bus (WB 37D 8989), carrying tourists from West Bengal from Srinagar towards Jammu, met with an accident near Marog, leaving one person dead and 37 others injured. The injured were evacuated to District Hospital Ramban, while four were referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital Jammu for specialised treatment.

Soon after the accident, the district administration launched a coordinated rescue operation. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan, SSP Arun Gupta, ADC Varunjeet Singh Charak and other senior officers rushed to the hospital and monitored the rescue, evacuation and treatment of the victims.

Personnel from J&K Police, CRPF, Civil QRT Ramban and the civil administration participated in the rescue operation.

In a separate accident in the same area, a vehicle carrying rescue personnel also met with an accident, injuring nine security personnel, including seven J&K Police personnel and two CRPF personnel. They were also shifted for medical treatment.

Senior officers visited District Hospital Ramban and supervised the treatment of the injured. The Deputy Commissioner directed the Medical Superintendent to ensure all necessary healthcare facilities and the best possible treatment for the victims.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the accident and conveyed condolences to the family of the deceased. He said he had spoken to the DC Ramban and directed that the seriously injured shifted to GMC Jammu receive the best possible treatment.
