Srinagar, September 11: A man and a woman were injured in separate bear attacks in Shopian and Tral areas of south Kashmir on Friday.
In Shopian, a 40-year-old man was attacked by a wild bear while he was in an apple orchard in the Sedow area.
An official identified the injured as Sadiq Ahmad Thokar, son of Abdul Rahman, a resident of Sedow. He was shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Shopian for treatment.
In a separate incident in Pulwama district, a woman was injured after being attacked by a bear in Handoora area of Tral.
The injured woman was identified as Hajra Begum, wife of Ghulam Ahmad Khan and a resident of Handoora. She was shifted to SDH Tral for treatment following the attack.
Meanwhile, locals have urged the Wildlife Department to take immediate preventive measures to protect residents amid increased bear movement in the area.
Authorities have taken cognisance of both incidents. (KNO)
