In the wake of the Union Government’s push towards an inclusive growth, it recently reported to the Parliament about sanctioning of 1,81,650 minority scholarships for the various central schemes in Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency for the period between 2019-20 and 2025-26.
The number reflects more than a lakh and a half dreams of the young minds of the region that have been realized and barriers dismantled with this support.
It is this support that has enabled Baramulla’s youth in the Valley to realize their latent potential to study higher education and professional courses.
With the number of scholarships ranging from Pre-Matric, Post-Matric and Merit-cum-Means, it is heartening to note that the rot of development has begun to spread in all quarters ensuring that none of the children of the region are deprived of their right to education.
Education is indeed the best weapon to fight poverty, extremism, and nihilism. By channelizing a quantum of the public funds directly into the hands of the young minds, the Government is not only encouraging the culture of education but also of self-respect and self-dependence.
A student who would have otherwise been studying up to a certain level to seek employment and support his family can now dream of becoming a doctor, an engineer, and a civil servant. It will have a multiplier effect on the overall economy of the region.
The very fact that the scholarships have been sanctioned for the sixth consecutive year reflects well on the Government’s commitment to the cause, thus revealing its vision of development that is truly all-pervasive.
The 1.8 lakh children who will receive the scholarships will be the new torchbearers of a transformed Kashmir in the years to come by virtue of their education itself.
By enabling this silent revolution, the Union Government is indeed to be congratulated, and the people of Baramulla can indeed look forward to the fruits of this approach in the years to come.
