Srinagar, Sept 03: President Droupadi Murmu, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday extended greetings and best wishes to people in India and abroad, and to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, on the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, to be celebrated on September 4.
In her message on the eve of Janmashtami, President Murmu said the life and teachings of Bhagwan Shri Krishna breathe new life into India’s cultural and philosophical heritage and show the path of truth, righteousness, justice, compassion and selfless service.
She said his teachings, embodied in the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, remain an eternal source of inspiration for humanity to make prudent decisions during difficult times and remain steadfast in moral values.
Murmu said the sacred festival inspires people to uphold harmony and devotion to duty and service.
She called upon citizens to resolve to follow the ideals of Bhagwan Shri Krishna and continue working tirelessly towards building an inclusive and developed India.
Sinha said the life and teachings of Lord Krishna carry a universal message celebrating the ultimate victory of righteousness and virtue, while his timeless wisdom on action guides people to fulfil their duties without attachment to the outcome.
He expressed hope that Lord Krishna would guide people towards righteousness and that his divine blessings would bring joy and prosperity to all.
Abdullah said Janmashtami symbolises the triumph of righteousness, truth and compassion over evil. He expressed hope that the festival would strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood and mutual respect among the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He prayed that the occasion brings peace, prosperity and happiness to all and strengthens the spirit of unity and harmony in society.
