Prez to attend NIFT Combined Convocation today

New Delhi, August 30: President of India Droupadi Murmu, the Visitor of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), will grace the NIFT Combined Convocation 2026 as the chief guest in New Delhi on Monday.

Graduating students from 18 NIFT campuses across the country will come together at the combined convocation to celebrate the conferment of their degrees and mark the culmination of their academic journey.

The ceremony will also recognise the academic excellence, creativity, dedication and achievements of the graduating students. Outstanding students from each programme across the campuses, who have secured the highest CGPA, will be honoured with gold medals.

Union Minister for Textiles Giriraj Singh, along with other distinguished dignitaries, members of the Board of Governors, senior officials, faculty members, scholars and graduating students, will also attend the event.

The combined convocation will be followed by campus-wise degree distribution ceremonies, where graduates will formally receive their degrees and transition from academic life into the professional world.

Established in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles, NIFT is a statutory institute governed by the NIFT Act, 2006. The institute has emerged as a leading centre for fashion education by integrating traditional arts and crafts with academic knowledge, design innovation, technology, creative thinking and industry engagement.

NIFT currently has 20 professionally managed campuses across the country and seeks to equip young talent with the knowledge, skills and creative capabilities required to contribute to India’s fashion and creative industries.

The 2026 convocation will celebrate the graduating batch’s academic achievements while marking the beginning of their professional journeys in fashion, design and the wider creative ecosystem. (PIB)
