Srinagar, August 27: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday extended greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, which will be celebrated on August 28.
In his message, the Lieutenant Governor conveyed his “heartiest greetings and best wishes” to the people on the auspicious occasion, describing Raksha Bandhan as a festival that celebrates the timeless bond between brothers and sisters.
He said the sacred thread of rakhi symbolises unconditional love, affection and trust, and expressed hope that the occasion would further strengthen societal ties and deepen the spirit of unity and togetherness across all sections of society.
“Heartiest greetings and best wishes to all on the sacred occasion of Raksha Bandhan,” Sinha said.
The Lieutenant Governor also wished for the festival to reinforce bonds among people and promote greater unity and togetherness across Jammu and Kashmir.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion.
In his message, Omar described Raksha Bandhan as a cherished festival celebrating the bond of love, affection and mutual respect between brothers and sisters.
He said the festival reflects enduring values of family bonds, trust, care and responsibility, which contribute to strengthening the social fabric of society.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that the occasion would bring happiness, peace and prosperity to every household and further strengthen the spirit of unity, harmony and brotherhood among the people across Jammu and Kashmir.
Both leaders highlighted the festival’s broader social significance, emphasising the values of affection, trust, responsibility, unity and harmony that Raksha Bandhan represents.
Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated across Jammu and Kashmir on August 28.
