Ganderbal admin issues advisory
Ganderbal, Aug 24: In view of the risks associated with bathing and swimming in Nallah Sindh and other water bodies, the District Administration Ganderbal has issued a public advisory urging people, particularly parents and guardians, to exercise utmost caution and remain vigilant.
The advisory calls upon parents and guardians to strictly prevent children from entering or bathing in Nallah Sindh and other water bodies and to keep them under close supervision, especially during holidays and leisure hours.
The administration has further advised parents to educate children about the dangers posed by deep, fast-flowing and unpredictable water bodies and discourage them from swimming or bathing at unprotected and unsafe locations.
Children should not go near water bodies without responsible adult supervision, it stressed.
The advisory was issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, on August 24, 2026, amid safety concerns associated with water bodies across the district.
The body of a 12 year old boy who drowned in Nallah Sindh at Fatehpora area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday was recovered on Monday, officials said.
An official said that the body of the teenager was recovered during a search operation launched following the incident this morning.
The deceased was identified as Mohsin Mukhtar (12), son of Mukhtar Ahmad Lone, a resident of Bamloora, Ganderbal.
Cognizance of the incident has been taken and the body will be handed over to the family after completion of necessary formalities. (KNO)
