Srinagar, August 20:Â J&K Pradesh Congress Committee on Thursday observed Sadbhavana Diwas with solemn reverence and renewed resolve at its Headquarters in Srinagar, marking the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi whom they described as a statesman whose unwavering vision of a united, peaceful and progressive India continues to illuminate the nation’s conscience.
Congress leaders gathered to pay heartfelt tribute to a legacy that transcends time, reaffirming the values he lived and led by.
At the heart of the observance stood the indestructible pillars of national integration, communal harmony, peace and goodwill which according to Congress leadership were the values more urgent today than ever before.
Speaker after speaker gave voice to a singular conviction that the bonds of unity binding India’s citizens, across every caste, religion, language and region, must not merely be preserved but actively and passionately strengthened.
JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra spoke with measured force, declaring that Rajiv Gandhi’s legacy burns with deep and undimmed relevance at a moment when the nation must stand firm in its commitment to pluralism, democratic values and social harmony.
He reminded all present that India’s greatest strength has always resided in its extraordinary diversity, and that the sacred duty of every political and social leader is to be a builder of bridges — never a sower of division.
Senior Congress leader Chaudhary Lal Singh called upon all to recognise that Sadbhavana Diwas is far more than a day of remembrance, it is a living call to conscience, a summons to uphold the ideals for which Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed and strived.
Peace, brotherhood and communal harmony, he declared, are not abstract aspirations but the very bedrock upon which the unity and integrity of this great nation must stand.
Senior Leader and MLA Nizamuddin Bhat spoke with passion of the imperative to carry forward Rajiv Gandhi’s luminous message of goodwill and inclusive development, insisting that true and lasting progress is achievable only when every section of society, without exception, feels respected, secure, and meaningfully included in the nation’s onward journey. No India can be truly strong while any of its people feel left behind.
The leaders closed with a declaration that rang with conviction that the spirit of Sadbhavana must never be confined to a single commemorative day.
